Marker Text

This Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) site was operated by the 549th Missile Squadron of the Strategic Air Command. Still standing are the launch operations building and three, 103-foot by 133-foot launch and service buildings containing the missile storage bays, all of reinforced concrete. To launch a missile, the roof of the storage bay was pulled back and the 83-foot tall, liquid-fueled rocket was raised upright. This launch complex was completed in July 1960 and deactivated in October 1964.
