Carl Jensen (1864-1939), Carpenter-Architect

Carl Jensen was born in Helsingor, Denmark on September 4, 1864. He learned the trade of carpentry in Denmark. In 1887, at the age of 22, Jensen immigrated to Waupacka, Wisconsin in the United States, then in 1888 to Racine, Wisconsin. From there Jensen moved to Central City, Nebraska, then to Hampton- where he was an important builder, and finally to Marquette. He was married to Elise Sofie Hansen in 1889 who passed away in 1928, and they had 11 children. He was later married to Marie Jensen. On February 26, 1939, Carl Jensen passed away at the age of 74. He was survived by his wife Marie and ten of his children.[1]
