Arthur August Hehnke (1895-1980), Architect

Arthur August Hehnke was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on April 3, 1895.[3] He attended the Armour Institute of Technology to study architecture and, later, the Art Institute of Chicago, in Illinois, from 1917-1918.[3] In 1918, Hehnke served in World War I as an Infantry Private.[2] After serving and earning his degree, Hehnke worked for his father's firm, O.J. Hehnke, from 1937-1941, whereupon Hehnke began working for Townsand, Quinlan, Battey, and Childs from 1941 until 1942.[3] Hehnke briefly worked for DeLeuw, Cather & Co. before transferring to Wm. S. Lozier, where he worked until 1945.[3] Hehnke started his own firm called Hehnke Architects, in 1945, where he worked until his death on August 29, 1980.[3]
Hehnke was a member and past president of the American Institute of Architects, the Robert W. Furness Lodge No. 265 A.F. & A.M., the Scottsbluff Lions Club, the Panhandle Shrine Cllub, Elks Lodge No. 1367 at Scottsbluff, and the United Commercial Travelers.[3] He was married and had one son.[3]
