Cass Gilbert (1858-1934), Architect
Cass Gilbert was born January 28, 1858 at Zanesville, Ohio.[4] One of America's preeminent architects, Gilbert practiced primarily in Minnesota and New York. He is tied to Nebraska by his design of the Agricultural Building for the 1898 Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition in Omaha, and as a member of the exposition's architectural board.[1] Gilbert was a member and fellow of the American Institute of Architects, 1892-1919, and served as the organization's president from 1908-1909. He died May 17, 1934 at Ridgefield, Connecticut.[1][2][3][4]
