Robert William McLaughlin, Jr. (1900-1989), Architect
Robert William McLaughlin, Jr. was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on June 24, 1900. Before studying architecture, McLaughlin served as a Seaman for the U.S. Navy during World War I. He then attended the prestigious Princeton University, receiving his Bachelor’s of Art in 1921 and his Master’s degree in 1926. After graduating with his Master’s degree, McLaughlin began work as a draftsman for the firm, H. van Buren Magonigle, until 1927. He married in 1933, then went on to have two children. In 1953, McLaughlin began his own architectural firm, Robert W. McLaughlin & Associates, during this time he was also the Director of the School of Architecture at his alma mater, Princeton. McLaughlin died November 30, 1989.[1][2][3]
