He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska; graduated from Westside High School; and received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He began his professional practice with '''[[Davis Fenton Stange Darling, Architects|Davis Fenton Stange and Darling]]''' and worked in that firm and its successor '''[[Davis Design, Architects|Davis Design]]''' his entire career. He served as president of Davis Design from 1992 to 2018. Matt died May 16, 2021.[[#References|[1]]]
